Life According to Grant...
Some funny stories about Grant....
The Blue Man - A couple of weeks ago, he woke up and told me that he saw a blue man in his bed. I was obviously intrigued by this comment and started asking questions. He preceded to tell me that the blue man sat at the end of his bed and was nice. He also said that I could not see him and that he was gone when he woke up in the morning. He has since told a similar story a few more times. I am guessing that he is dreaming but who knows. It is interesting to listen to. While we were at my parents house over Christmas, he kept saying that he saw a man upstairs too. That was while he was awake but of course, we never saw a man.
Mocking Mommy - We have started to read some books that are not board books so they have regular paper pages. I was reading to him and licked my finger to turn the page which I didn't think twice about. He just started laughing and preceded to lick his finger and turn the next page and every page there after. He will do it and look at me and say "mommy does that". The books will probably have water damage from all the licking! lol!
The world is his urinal! I have signed him up for preschool which will start this summer. My number one concern is that he is going to drop his pants to pee when they take them to play outside. He thinks that if he is outside, he can just pee on anything. I have been trying to work on this but he doesn't like the idea that he should go all the way inside to use the bathroom, lol!
Calm Down - I have recently told him to "calm down" a few times when he gets really wild and I am trying to get Sloan to nap. Then, out of no where, he looked at me a few days ago and said "mommy, calm down" in a very quiet voice. I laughed out loud it was so funny.
Shrek and Cars - He LOVES both of these movies and has memorized certain parts of them. He will ask for you to put on a particular scene which can be hard to do sometimes. We actually just bought him some new underwear that has Lightening McQueen and Mater (Cars characters) on them. They are actual briefs versus the cotton padded training underwear and very cute. He is still doing great with potty training. I actually can't remember the last time he had an accident but it has been a long time now.

ABC's, 123's, and almost ready for a Bow!
Grant can now say/sing his ABC's entirely. We are going to get a video of it soon and post it on the blog. It is very cute to listen to. He can also count 1 to 6....but he sometimes skips 4 for some reason.
A funny story that I probably should not blog about but he may get a laugh out of it when he is older. A few weeks ago he woke up and kept telling me "pee pee longer" and I think it goes without saying what he meant, lol! This week, he has changed his phrase to "pee pee taller". I try not to laugh when he says it and just redirect him to something else but it is sooooo funny! We have been telling him that he will grow big and tall one day like daddy so I guess that is where the word "taller" is coming from. Testosterone kicks in early!
Sloan is doing great and her little cold is completely gone now. Her hair is now long enough to spike up. I haven't tried a bow yet but that is coming soon.

Sloan's 4 Month Stats
I took Sloan to her 4 month doctor's visit today. She is 11lb 7oz (5th percentile) and 23 1/4 inches (20th percentile). She got 2 shots (Hep B and PCV) and will go back in a couple of weeks for one more. Everything else is going great with her!

How many names can a parent have?
Yet another funny story for Grant. In the last couple of weeks, he has decided to change up what he calls us depending on his mood.
For me.....I get "hey mom" when he needs or wants something.....I get "mommy" in a very whiny voice if he is tired or I don't respond fast enough to his requests.....then I get "ma ma" if he is referring to me when talking to someone else. Occasionally, he will use "Mel" to get my attention.
For Luke.....he has started saying "hey man" when he is asking for something and I have no clue where that comes from....and yes we are trying to correct that one. He says "da da" when he is referring to him when talking to others.....and he loves to call him "Luke" when he doesn't get a response fast enough.
I am sure we will get called many more things over the years, lol!

Almost 4 Months Old
Sloan is almost 4 months old! She has recently started that phase of wanting to put everything in her mouth. She is still fighting off a bit of a cold as well. It is just taking a while to work its way out of her little body I guess. One mystery is still her eye color.....we just cannot tell yet what it is going to be. I am still guessing hazel but they have blue around the outer edges, green on the inside a muddy brown in the middle. Grant's were already bright blue at this age.

First Cold
Sloan has her first cold....boo hoo. Grant's nose was running a little for a couple of days last week and Luke and I had sore throats this past weekend. It seems Sloan has picked up a bit of this and has a little cold. Her nose isn't running bad but there is a little congestion....she doesn't like the snot sucker at all! It hasn't seemed to bother her really though. She is still sleeping fine at night and smiling a lot during the day. This too shall pass....hopefully soon!
She is officially in Size 2 diapers now and has almost outgrown the 3 month outfits. I just got her new pajamas that are 3-6 months. She is still not as strong as Grant was at her age but she is also a much calmer, laid back baby. She is just content most of the time. Her only fussy period is at night right before bath time (7-7:30pm) when I think she is just ready to go to sleep. Last night she went to sleep at 7:30pm and didn't make a peep until 8:30am so she definitely likes her beauty sleep. Her first bottle of the day is 6 ounces now and she can take it down really fast!

Sloan Growing and Grant's Adventures
Sloan is now 11lbs! She is growing more every day. She is not reaching for toys yet but she is trying to hold her bottle when we feed her. She is very vocal and loves to coo and laugh. She has almost outgrown her 3 month outfits so she will get to try out more of her new wardrobe soon. She still continues to spit up like a champ. She is up to around 25 ounces per day now. She is sleeping almost 13 hours at night now. Napping during the day is still all over the place but she usually naps around 3 hours per day.
We took Grant to the zoo last weekend and he had a blast. He can identify all of the animals and loved the petting zoo. There are statues of animals throughout the zoo and he had to "ride" all of them. I can't remember if I already posted this but a funny story about Grant.....when we are riding in the car and I have to hit the brakes a bit harder than usual, he says "Be careful mommy!". So insightful already. I took him to get a haircut today and Luke told him last night that he looked like a "hippie". So, when we got to Great Clips he says to the lady...."I look like a hippie!". We really have to watch what we say to him and around him, lol!

Funny Moments
Grant has so many moments lately that make us laugh out loud. Tonight, we were making tacos and he held up his plate with one hand and said "Man do that at Hola". Hola is what he calls the mexican restaurant that we go to a lot. He was actually balancing the plate really well. His little mind is constantly going!
He also loves to watch Sloan take a bath every night. He is dying to get in there with her but it will be a few more months before that can happen. He gets in right after her now.

Sloan 3 Months Old
Sloan is now 3 months old and doing great! I couldn't get one of these pictures turned the right way for some reason. She rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time today! She also started getting up on her elbows today. She likes to do the "airplane" move when she is on her stomach...see the picture, lol! She is really starting to follow objects and noises with her eyes. Bathtime is one of her favorite things every night but she screams to the top of her lungs when you pull her out. She is sleeping 12 hours at night but totally random on napping during the day. She is not on a schedule for eating during the day yet either. She takes around 25 ounces a day in a random amount of bottles. And she still spits up a lot so I guess that is here to stay until she starts solid food.

Grant has a New Tooth!
Grant has finally cut a new tooth! He has yet to get his 2 year molars and then he came and told me that he "broke a tooth". I pulled out a flashlight to see what he meant.....and his lower left molar is cutting through his gum! He was feeling a new tooth coming through and thought it was broken, lol!
We have been in the process of getting a new nanny and finally found someone whom we think is going to be great! She starts tomorrow! I am now back work and have been very busy. I have not had time to take many pictures but will definitely take some soon to post.
Sloan is now officially 3 months old and weighed 10lb 4 ounces a couple of days ago.

Cake Pop or Pop Cake?
I have learned over the last 3 months that it is extremely difficult to go anywhere with a 2.5 year old and infant by myself. So, we remain at home most of time. However, we have ventured out a few times. One place we have gone a few times is Starbucks to get a Mocha for me. I decided to introduce "Cake Pops" to Grant. It only took once and now if he sees a Starbucks, he says "mommy, go to Pop Cake house". Not sure why he has reversed the words but he refuses to say it in the right order, lol! He makes us laugh everyday with something he says or does. One other funny story of the day....Luke called me on my cell phone and after we hung up I went to get Sloan up from her nap. When I came back downstairs, Grant had my phone and was talking on it. I thought he was pretending and asked him who he was talking to. He said "dada, say hey mommy". I still thought he was joking until I took the phone and realized that he had really called Luke. He hit the send button and it called the last person who called me which was Luke. Guess he got lucky on that one and so did I.

Sloan is 12 Weeks Old
Grant is growing a lot as well. His 2T pants are now getting short on him. He is now using "I" most of the time instead of using the third person (Grant want this, etc.). His memory still amazes us...he will bring up things from over 6 months ago and not miss a detail. He remembers names of people after only seeing them one time, so strange. He has also recognized the difference between boys and girls....he informed me that "dada has pee-pee and Grant has pee-pee but mommy not have a pee-pee".....I quit undressing in front of him several months ago when he kept pointing out "nipples" so I wasn't quite prepared for that comment to come out of his mouth quite yet. He never ceases to amaze me on a daily basis!

Merry Christmas!
Sloan is getting bigger every day. She is 9.5 lbs now. She is sleeping at least 10 hours a night and has gone 12 hours a few times. She is eating anywhere from 2.5-5 ounces every couple of hours. Her only flaw is that she spits up like it's her job! Anyone who holds her better be prepared to end up with a wet spot on them, lol!

Sloan 9 Weeks and Grant's Activities
Sloan is now 9 weeks old! She is really smiling a lot now and cooing tons too! She weights 9lb 3ounces. We take her to the doctor this week for her 2 month appointment so we will have official stats soon.
Grant has been very busy lately too. We made Christmas cookies and he really enjoyed decorating them....mostly eating the colored sugar and cookie dough! He also loves to wear my shoes now and walk around the house in them....hence the picture below of him in my boots. Piedmont Park now has horse and buggy rides for the first time in 80 years. So, we took Grant to take a ride. He loved it and actually got to sit on the horse and pet him. Added bonus: there was a carousel to ride too.
