Sloan's 4 Year Stats
Sloan had her 4 year check up this week and did great. She is 28lb (5th percentile) and 36 7/8 inches (10th percentile) so she remains quite small for her age but happy and healthy. She got 2 of the 3 shots she was due for (DTaP and Polio). We will be back in a couple of weeks to get the MMR/Chicken Pox vaccine. She didn't scream this time until the nurse came in with the shots so that was a little easier than last time. She still screamed things like "No, I changed my mind, no shots, no shots!" I told her I would buy her a toy afterwards and she said "I want 2 toys since I got 2 shots!". Smart little negotiator huh.....of course she got 2 toys! And she will tell anyone who will listen that she got 2 shots including the lady checking us out at Target, lol.
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! Grant was a ninja and Sloan was Doc McStuffins and I was a witch! We got so lucky with the weather. It was a beautiful night, not too hot and not too cold....and NO RAIN! The kids went trick or treating around our neighborhood and one other. This means we have way too much candy, lol.
Elsa Party, Pumpkin Farm, and Apple Farm
Sloan got to go to a friend's princess birthday party and Elsa was there! And Sleeping Beauty but Sloan only cared about Elsa, lol. This Elsa sang "Let It Go", read a story, did a craft with the girls and put makeup on them. Sloan had so much fun along with everyone there.
We went to a pumpkin farm where we got to do a corn maze, ride ponies, chase baby pigs in a race and even ride a camel! And Grant got to get on a bungee contraption that he loved. It was a really fun time and we even ran into one of Grant's friends from school.
We also finally made it to the Apple Farm. With all of the rain, we go delayed on some of our normal activities outside. We tried a new place since it was so late in the season and the highlight was the zip line for Grant. He didn't hesitate one bit.....got right on there and went all 1,000 feet! He loved it! Luke also went beside him, down the other line, so he wouldn't be alone for the ride back up. We picked apples and the kids enjoyed the petting zoo as usual. This one had kittens too.

Happy 4th Birthday to Sloan!
Sloan had her 4th birthday party at the horse stables. She continues to love riding ponies so this was perfect! All of the kids got to ride ponies and then we had snacks and cake. She has her 4 year doctors appointment this week so I will have her updated stats soon.
Sloan's favorite things include: playing doctor with anyone who will be her patient (including the dog), pretend play with her stuffed animals, a stuffed dog that she sleeps with every night, her 2 blankets that she cannot sleep without, and being able to do anything that Grant can do:)
She continues to be very inquisitive about everything and wants to know "why" before doing anything. She is constantly thinking and will ask about the funniest and most random things sometimes.
One example this past week....
Sloan: "Will I be a mommy one day like you?"
Me: "Yes, if you want to be."
Sloan: "Well, how many kids will I have?"
Me: "As many as you want"
Sloan: "Then, I want 4 kids, no I want 5!" and held up her hand with 5 fingers lol. Crazy girl!

State Fair, Dragon Con, Soccer and Teacher Conferences
We went to the GA State Fair for the first time this year. We played tons of games and won lots of stuffed animals. Then, the kids got cotton candy and corn dogs. And Grant has gotten much more adventurous these days and he decided he wanted to ride the Swings. I was a little concerned that he would freak out when the ride started.....so we opted for the double seater and I went along for the ride too. I forgot just how fast and how high they go. He was a little nervous when it first started but then he loved it!
Grant and I also went to the Dragon Con parade for the first time. It was full of Sci-Fi characters and he really enjoyed it.
Grant has been playing soccer this fall and really enjoys it. He has gotten much more aggressive and has scored goals in almost every game.
I recently had parent-teacher conferences at both of their schools. Grant is doing great and his only area of improvement was "talking too much". That sounds so familiar....I was the same way, lol. He is our social butterfly but also a rule follower.
Meanwhile, Sloan is not as much of a rule follower unless she understands the "why" behind the rule. Her teacher said she is very smart and asks tons of questions. She said Sloan wants to know what is about to happen before it happens. All of the kids in her class go to her and ask how to do things. They call her "the boss" evidently, lol. I tried to clarify that with Sloan and said "are you sure they don't call you 'bossy'?" and she said "No mommy, they call me 'the boss'". Her teacher all but confirmed this. She is a leader evidently and loves to be in control.

First Day of School
Sloan started school for the first time! Because of her birthday, she will always be the oldest in the class and is therefore in a 3 year pre-k this year. We were a bit concerned that she would not like it but she has proved us wrong again. She went right in and wasn't concerned at all. She does like to know what is going to happen before it happens.....so she did ask "when will you be back to get me?" lol. She goes 2 days a week for mornings only this year. Next year, she will be in an actually Pre-K program 5 days a week.
On another note.......Sloan got a big girl bed in July and loves it! She does get up sometimes to come and tell us that she needs to go to the bathroom. Easy transition outside of that.
Grant started 1st Grade and continues to love school. He has several of his friends from last year in his class again this year. His teacher is wonderful and it is going to be a great year!
